# WhatsApp integration

> Use WhatsApp as a communication channel in your Cobalt workflows and sync your conversations.

WhatsApp is available as a communication channel in Cobalt. You use it in your **workflows** (via a communication block), alongside email and LinkedIn, to reach candidates and prospects where they're most responsive.

## Use cases

* **Conversational follow-up** — complement a first email or LinkedIn touch with a more direct, personal message.
* **Hard-to-reach people** — some check WhatsApp more often than their work inbox.
* **Quick follow-ups** — a short message can unblock a conversation that got no reply on other channels.

## Use in workflows

A **sequence** is a type of workflow: a workflow made of **communication blocks**. WhatsApp steps are therefore configured as communication blocks in the workflow builder, just like email and LinkedIn.

See the [Block list](/en/fonctionnalites/liste-blocs) and [Sequence](/en/fonctionnalites/sequences) to learn more.

## Connection

Connect your WhatsApp account from your **personal settings**. Cobalt shows a **QR code** to scan from the WhatsApp app on your phone. A **second method**, using a **code**, is also available for syncing.

## Conversation sync

Once connected, your **existing conversations** with clients and candidates are synced into Cobalt.

<Note>
  If a person's **phone number** isn't in Cobalt, their conversation can't be synced. Syncing happens automatically as soon as the number is added.
</Note>

## Message templates

You can create reusable WhatsApp message templates for your workflows. See [Message templates](/en/fonctionnalites/templates/messages).
