# LinkedIn integration

> Use LinkedIn as a sourcing channel and outreach channel in Cobalt: import profiles via the Chrome extension and include LinkedIn messages in your multichannel sequences.

LinkedIn is the central professional network for recruiters and business developers in staffing firms and recruitment agencies. Cobalt integrates with LinkedIn on two distinct fronts: **profile import** to build your database, and **LinkedIn messages** as an outreach channel within your multichannel sequences.

## Use cases

* **Profile sourcing** — import candidates directly from LinkedIn into your database, via the Chrome extension.
* **Business development** — identify and engage new decision-makers on LinkedIn.
* **Multichannel outreach** — send InMails, messages, and connection requests from Cobalt, within your workflows.

## Import LinkedIn profiles

LinkedIn profile imports are handled through the **Cobalt Chrome Extension**. When you browse a LinkedIn profile, the extension lets you import it directly into your CRM in one click — no copy-paste required.

<Note>
  Cobalt imports one profile at a time, based on your explicit action. There is no automated or bulk scraping.
</Note>

What is captured during import:

* Contact details (email and phone) — **optional** enrichment, by clicking **Enrich email** or **Enrich phone**
* Work experiences with dates and company names
* Education and certifications
* Skills listed on the profile
* LinkedIn profile URL

To install the extension and learn more about the import process, see [Chrome Extension](/en/integrations/extension-chrome).

## Connecting your LinkedIn account

You can connect three types of LinkedIn accounts:

* **Classic LinkedIn**
* **LinkedIn Recruiter**
* **LinkedIn Sales Navigator**

Your account's advantages carry over to the sync in Cobalt. For example, **InMails**: with a **Recruiter** account, you can **send InMails directly from Cobalt**.

### Connection request

You can send a **connection request** directly from Cobalt — on its own, or **with a message**.

### LinkedIn statuses

Each person shows a colored status indicating the state of the relationship:

* 🔴 **Red** — you are not connected with the person.
* 🟡 **Yellow** — invitation sent, pending: the person hasn't accepted yet.
* 🟢 **Green** — you are already connected with the person.
* 🔵 **Blue** — a conversation is already in progress.

## LinkedIn as an outreach channel

Once your LinkedIn account is connected, you can include LinkedIn steps in your multichannel outreach sequences:

* **LinkedIn InMail** — to reach candidates who are not part of your network.
* **LinkedIn direct message** — to engage your first-degree connections.

These LinkedIn steps combine with Email and WhatsApp steps in a single sequence flow, with configurable delays between each step.

To build and launch multichannel sequences, see [Sequences](/en/fonctionnalites/sequences).

## Conversation sync

Your **existing LinkedIn conversations** with clients and candidates are synced into Cobalt.

<Note>
  If a person's **LinkedIn link** isn't in Cobalt, their conversation can't be synced. Syncing happens automatically as soon as the LinkedIn link is added.
</Note>

## Points to note

<Info>
  Using LinkedIn in sequences respects LinkedIn's terms of use and limitations. Cobalt does not bypass the platform's native restrictions.
