# Telephony (VoIP)

> Make and receive calls directly from Cobalt with a dedicated number, automatic recording, and integrated transcription.

Cobalt's VoIP telephony add-on gives you a dedicated phone number and integrates inbound and outbound calls directly into the platform. Every call is recorded and transcribed automatically, eliminating manual note-taking and keeping the conversation history up to date in the CRM.

## How it works

<Steps>
  <Step title="Activate the VoIP add-on">
    Go to **Personal settings → Telephony** and activate the VoIP add-on. A dedicated phone number is assigned to your account `[TO CONFIRM: number portability]`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Make an outbound call from Cobalt">
    Open a candidate or client profile and click the phone number to launch the call directly from the Cobalt interface. No application switching needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Receive inbound calls">
    Inbound calls to your dedicated number ring directly in Cobalt `[TO CONFIRM: also on mobile or via softphone]`. If the number matches an existing profile, the card opens automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The call is recorded and transcribed automatically">
    At the end of each call, Cobalt records the conversation and generates an automatic transcription. The transcription is attached to the relevant candidate or client profile and visible to all team members with access to the record. Learn more: [Meeting & call transcription](/en/fonctionnalites/transcription).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the call history in the CRM">
    All calls — inbound and outbound — appear in the timeline of the relevant profile with the date, duration, audio recording, and transcription. No manual entry required.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Combine VoIP telephony with multichannel sequences to include call steps in your outreach flows and centralise all candidate interactions in a single history.
</Tip>
